Travelers at San José Mineta International Airport can ask a hologram of Mayor Matt Mahan questions through an AI-powered kiosk. The installation went live in early 2026, ahead of Super Bowl LX, and LiveX has now announced additional features for its AI City product, including 3D maps, multilingual translation and a “Physical AI Host” experience.

LiveX describes the hosts as life-sized, human-like holograms that can converse in multiple languages and offer guidance in physical locations. The company said the technology is designed to provide context-aware, personalized assistance and natural conversation. LiveX developed the interactive technology in collaboration with NVIDIA.

The airport installation is among more than 100 customer sites where LiveX says AI City is deployed. Other locations in Santa Clara County include the SAP Center, El Camino Hospital and the San Jose Sharks stadium, along with hotels and retail stores. The technology was also used in the San Francisco Bay Area during this summer’s World Cup tournament and at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

LiveX co-founder, President and Chief AI Officer Jai Li said the technology could assist travelers, hospital visitors, shoppers and large crowds. Mahan has described the airport installation as the first hologram of a mayor.

Other public-facing AI kiosks are also emerging. El Paso County, Texas, introduced a kiosk from another vendor at a zoo this summer, while Raleigh, North Carolina, has plans for kiosks at city hall and for the technology to take on a larger share of work.
